About AirScope

AirScope brings transparent, global air-quality data to everyone — no account, no ads, no paywall.

How it works

We read live and forecast air-quality data from the Open-Meteo Air Quality API, which is built on the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS). Readings are cached in our own database so we serve you fast and stay within fair-use limits.

What is AQI?

The Air Quality Index converts pollutant concentrations into a single number on a colour scale. A higher number means more pollution and greater health risk. AirScope supports both the US EPA AQI and the European EAQI.

US AQI

0300+

EU AQI

0100+

The US AQI (EPA) and European AQI (EEA) use different scales and breakpoints. We show which one you've selected on every reading.

Methodology

Europe uses the higher-resolution 11 km CAMS domain; the rest of the world uses the 45 km global domain, so small differences can appear at borders.
